Lessons in Love.

Today i matured.
As ruff as its been, and as painful as the near future is likely to be, i wont ever be the same person.
Today i learned two things.
One. Sexuality is NOT the focal point of satisfaction.
Nor is it the one thing that will sustain us.
Not many elderly couples are tearing it up in the bed. But they have one anothers
backs unconditionally. And on any given night in ur typical couples bedroom, you're more likely to hear "rub my neck honey" than "do me harder, daddy!"
Handcuffs, dildos, and other erotic apparatus are just ADULT TOYS.
Sumthing to distract us from the norm. Because the norm is SO boring, right?
Maturity calls us to throw away toys, focus on what matters.
Just loving your significant other without all the extra bells and whistles is so underrated these days.
Facination with curiousity does NOT keep u warm at night.
U cant "nuzzle up" with experimentalization.
Sometime ago, the concepts of familiarity and simplicity became a bore to me.
As in any other pleasure in life, the perversion and overindulgence that this boredom can lead to destruction. I know that now.

The second is, you never truly miss a good thing til its gone. Never again will a divine blessing be taken for granted by me. I'll treasure it, protect it and love it in the manor that its truly worthy. I know this now, as well.

Me-badu

I've been adored.
i've been hated.
Interestingly enuff, often by the same people.lol
My self esteem isnt LOW, but still a lil less than hi.
In elementary school i had lots of friends.
Middle school, kinda the same. but i got tired of not being in the cool cliques.
so in high school i made an effort to become popular.
it worked but really didnt suit me well. so after graduating, i didnt keep in touch with the rest of the "cool kids".
those "Cool Kids" in NY are really wack. So is any other 20 year old running around with a high top fade and Cross Colour Jeans. "Its NOT UR generations' trend, so STOP it.
I prefer what feels genuine over whats expected.
Tho i often still have an internal struggle to rationalize it.
I've come to realize people are people, flaws and all, no matter if they are catagorized as:
family
lovers
friends
acquaintances
or strangers.
so setting lofty expectations upon them is often a set-up for dissappointment. just luv em anyway. the good shit about by far out-weighs the bad.
I'm conundrum because as strongly as i believe in fate, i also have many regrets.
I often feel my opinion is the only reasonable rationale in an argument. Partly because i lead with my heart, partly because i think im smarter than most people.lol
I've been responsible in the past for sabotaging my own happiness.
Sacrificing myself and my feelings may score me big points with God but its sucked for me down here.
i feel so optimistic about my future. i've learned so many of lifes lessons at such a young age, applying them to future obstacles and experiences.
i hate how conservatism is a polite word for racism.

Extra, Extra.. Jay Electronica(Prod. by Madlib)

this song..
First off this guy has been the internets' fashionable pic for "whats next" in hip hop. Lyrics is on point, subject matter is relatable and original.. But i gotta be honest i havent really jumped onto his bandwagon. I mean i love the name, the unique mixtape titles and even the promo shots but nuthins really jumped out at me about this guy til THIS SONG.

Let me dissect it.
The beat.
This beat.
MAdlib is a genius.
Dude NEVER ceases to amaze.
I was really taken by his "Masala" beat off the hindi inspired
Beat Konducta in India EP that dropped last summer.
but this joint..
First thing that hits ur heart(not ur EARs but ur HEART) are the looped but passionate violen stabs that will remind any TRU 80's baby of Spike Lees earliest(and greatest works) cinematic masterpieces..
Then that classic 808 thuds like the faint but steady heartbeat of the track alternating with some kind of sticks clapping together..
Rounding things out is element that made Biggies' Who shot ya more than a vague diss song and tribes' god lives thru more than a lyrical feast featuring busta. Im talking about the Mens chorus sample. the one where is unison u here these men chanting heyyyyyyyyyy..
its no coincidence these three songs are all such beautiful pieces of hip hop. its almost as if these guys are praising the hip hop gods for such beauty on a track.
hell theres a narration in the end of the song talking about the Book Of Revelations. almost as if this is one of the songs that'll be playing during armeggedon. Maybe God really did send this one down for his REAL hip hop heads.. stuff like this is tear inducing. i can personnally attest to that.

then u have Jay.
i cant lie, on this track he sounds STRIKINGLY like Mf DOOM in voice, lyrics, cadence, all of it. but it fits so well.

please listen.
